Makes 10 servings
  • 8 large tart apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp (30 ml) lemon juice
  • 3/4 C (180 ml) sugar
  • 2 tsp (2 tsp) Apple Pie Spice
  • 1/4 C (60 ml) dried fruit
  • 1 1/4 C (310 ml) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 C (125 ml) oat flakes
  • 3/4 C (180 ml) brown sugar
  • 3/4 C (180 ml) butter

Preparation


 
  • Preheat oven to 375° F (190° C).
  • Toss apples with lemon juice. Add sugar, Apple Pie Spice and dried fruit, tossing to coat.
  • Spoon into oven-proof baking dish.
  • Combine flour, oats and brown sugar in a mixing bowl. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over apples.
  • Bake 40 minutes.
  • Tip: Serve with a scoop of ice cream, whipped cream or a slice of low-fat cheddar cheese.
